CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism)

An EU system that puts a carbon price on certain imports so they face the same carbon cost as goods made in the EU.

It covers iron and steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity and hydrogen. Importers report the embedded emissions of their goods and buy CBAM certificates.
