ISSB standards keep spreading: UK, China and the Philippines in 2026

About 40 jurisdictions have adopted or are consulting on ISSB-based rules. The UK published its Sustainability Reporting Standards in February 2026.

Roughly 40 countries now have ISSB-aligned standards in force or under consultation.

In 2026, China's CSDS and the Philippines' sustainability disclosure standard were added. The UK launched its Sustainability Reporting Standards, based on IFRS S1 and S2, in February 2026, with FTSE-listed companies likely to report from 2027. Australia, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia have already moved, and Turkey applies ISSB to listed and large entities. In the United States there is no federal requirement, but California has passed mandatory greenhouse gas disclosure laws.

For companies operating in several countries, the practical effect is a growing overlap between IFRS S1/S2 and the EU's ESRS. Look for software and advisers that map one data set to both.
